All-Natural Electrolyte Drink

Writer's picture: KierstenKiersten

I was advised to consume a high amount of electrolytes following a procedure I had to heal from, but I had an issue--I don't drink Gatorade due to food dyes and wanted better than Liquid IV or LMNT.

My husband researched to find an all-natural way to increase my electrolytes, that we could easily make at-home during my recovery. Here's how to a make better, cleaner drink & why:

  • Coconut Water - contains potassium, sodium, calcium & magnesium.

  • Citrus Juice - lemon or orange juice contains potassium & citric acid, a weak electolyte

  • Salt - a combination of sodium & chloride, two key electolytes. A pinch of salt is enough to replenish electrolytes and prevent dehydration.

  • Other Ingredients: honey or maple syrup can be added for flavor. You can also add some baking powder & orange juice!
